Welcome to our blog

We’re Chris and Stephanie Haggerty - this is the Hard West Project.

Ever wonder what part you can play in helping people experiencing homelessness? What your role might be?
You read article after article, listen to podcasts, read the latest books describing causality, statistics, effects on cities, so much information and you still do not feel informed. Frankly, you have no idea what to do, what you can do.
The core question we’re exploring here? How do we safely and effectively offer help to our unhoused neighbors?

Join us as we consider what we may have to offer to this challenging reality.

Thanks for taking the time to visit, we hope you enjoy the content. We’d love your feedback.

What this is:
The goal of our project is to offer stories that help us better understand our unhoused neighbors. Secondly and perhaps most importantly, we explore ways to offer actual solutions safely and effectively in our own neighborhoods.

What this is not:
This is not an invitation into any place but your own. We don’t believe in deferring our privilege to walk along side our neighbors solely to organizations. It’s you and me, simply living life with the people in front of us.

We believe that real change happens at the grassroots level. It starts with learning new ways of seeing others and understanding our personal role in affecting change.

We’re glad you’re here and hope our journey and storytelling encourages you and results in safe/effective engagement for all who have interest.
